shape... convert selection

Having a look through the MAXScript Help page I can not see anyway to convert selected "segments" to "vertex" or "spline" to "vertex" etc. for shape objects. Does this feature exist and I've overlooked it or can someone suggest an easy way to do this?

You have to write a script that does this.
