I've followed tuts for using MacroRecorder, but see some of my actions aren't picked up by MaxScript Listener, but doesn't make sense why in my case. I've imported a meshNode, click Modify> Element> Control A to select all> "1" under Smoothing Groups>Export -- and then I check the box for Smoothing Groups under Geometry and Embed Media under Embed. I'm aware this last part wouldn't be caught by the MaxScipt Listener, but why wouldn't each those first steps?

I'm working with very high-poly meshes coming from photogrammetry-based scan data, wish to leverage occlusion culling to optimize performance. My SFM app allows me to break a monster mesh into many tiny sub-meshes on export, so here's why I need to batch process these in 3DS Max before bringing into Unreal Engine, which a) looks for Smoothing Groups, and b) begs to have texture embedded with the FBX to avoid bogging down generating so many materials per part, only to have to then manually bring in each texture per part and link.

Many thanks for helping a newb!
