ATTN:BOBO - Standardmaterial diffusemap-slot maxscript reference issue.

Maxscript reference says in Standardmaterial about diffusemap slot:

<Standard>.diffuseMap TextureMap default: undefined -- alias for maps
Get/Set the diffuse map.

And actually it seems to be maps. At least in 3ds max 2009

Is there a real place to report this kind of things? I tried to find but never found. This is not the first time that I report these little details/typos at forums. 😃

You might put ATTN:BOBO in thesubject of the post...he does read the maxscript section
and he's the mxs docs guy. The maps are listed correctly in the table that appears at the
bottom of the page on standard materials, but you are correct to point out the error.

Slightly OT (sorry) but why are there no "Please send us your comment about this page" links in the Maxscript help? They are there in both the main Help and in the Tutorials. Yes, I realise it would be a fair bit of work to add them 😉

Max 2016 (SP1/EXT1)
Win7Pro x64 (SP1). i5-3570K @ 4.4GHz, 8Gb Ram, DX11.
nVidia GTX760 (2GB) (Driver 430.86).

Here is the technical (and as always, the historical) side of things.

When I was hired to do the Help, back in Max 5 days, Discreet had a custom CHM compiler pipeline. We used (and still use) RoboHelp to author the MAXScript Help, then the HTML output was sent through that compiler and it spit out a CHM which had nothing to do with the original source visually. No color coding, no font styles support, just black on pink with normal, bold and italic font only. On the positive side, that compiler appended the "Comments" section to each HTML page automatically.

I had a heart attack each time I saw the final result. So around Max 8, I asked Autodesk to upgrade my license to the latest RoboHelp and allow me to produce the final CHM with all the colorful styles you see now (and since Max 2008 also additional navigational menus, hotspot bitmaps etc.). Unfortunately, I could not find a way to add the Comments link to each page automatically.

In addition, in the days when the link was available, the number of bug reports received through that channel was minimal - probably about 5 reports for ALL versions I worked on. So when it was there nobody used it, now that it isn't, everybody wants to use it ;o)

Posting here or on CGTalk usually does the same job, plus we get a nice thread around the problem...

Fair enough - thanks for the explanation. I had the misfortune, once upon a time, to use RoboHelp. 'Nuff said.

And LOL at 5 reports - 4 of those were mine! 🙂
