Viewport Problem 3Ds Max 2018

As shown in the video while I'm 3D modelling, at times everything disappears and I have to press the Z key to zoom every time. I am using 3Ds Max 2018.

This is becoming very annoying and it is disturbing while working. I would appreciate any solutions, thanks. 🙂

Hi,

First thing i noticed, is that you're working too far from the origin, and this is something that Max

Hates a lot!, so first thing bring all your objects somewhere near the origin.

Another problem that might add to this(not sure if this is your case), is that you're working in big system units

And at the same time your objects are too small. To test this, click the name of the viewport, and choose Viewport Clipping,

Now drag the upper yellow triangle all the way up, and the lower triangle all the way down. Now try to zoom in and zoom out.

But first, move your objects as mentioned in step 1, after that check if all is working normally, if not check the second option.

Thanks a lot, Miled Rizk.

I have followed your instructions and it seems that it is working fine now. I wasn't aware of the distance from the origin so I changed that and the viewport clipping as suggested.

May I ask you something else? At the corner of the viewport sometimes it indicates that it is disabled as shown in the screenshot below. What is that about? Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,

Lucianne.

When you press D on the keyboard you will disable the viewport,

Pressing D again to cancel the Disable state.

This is useful in complex scene when you don't have a very powerful graphic card,

This will let you make changes in other viewports without having those changes immediately updating in the

Disabled viewports. When you click inside the disabled viewport those changes will update.

Now if you try to test this in a simple scene you will not see this the way i'm describing it. You might see some small

Wait before the update even without clicking inside the disabled viewport. But in a very huge and complex scene you will

Notice what i explained.
