i would do the tutorials that are built into 3ds max and move onto youtube and look for some stuff there,

there are a lot of 3ds max sites out there from the ones that are free and the ones you have to pay for

 

It all depends what you are into modeling charcters,  Game design, weapon design, animation SFX etc max is a big program
