Symmetry modifier problem

I'm having some issue with the symmetry modifier, when I try to use it it crisscross the image of the project and if I reset the Xform it works but when I unhide all everything is out of place. This is what it looks like when I use the modifier. I'll be great full if someone got an answer.

Thank You.

Hi,

It's not easy to guess what might be the problem,

Maybe, if possible, a short video showing the process might help.

I have attach a picture of what happen when I hit the symmetry modifier. I hope this will explain it more clearly.

Thank you

Both of the images you posted are the same and show the full object (not just the half to be mirrored).

Here's an example of half of a symmetrical object.

And with the Symmetry modifier evaluated.  Note the location of the mirror plane.

You are reseting the transforms etc when you reset xform.

I think you might be missing a few fundamentals - make sure you have defined the centre of your object, so the symmetry modifier works correctly (it mirrors across the centre axis). If you press 'J' in polygon mode, it will display the mesh bounds, showing the meshes actual set transforms. Once you resetXform, the bounds reset.
