Snap to Face with Constraints

Hey all, having a problem with snap constraints, vertex works perfectly with constraints on a single axis, however with the "face" snaps selected it just doesnt attach at all

I need to snap a vertex to the face at the z axis

Here's a way to get an approximate solution that I know is not elegant but may yield satisfactory results.

Create a line that runs parallel to the z-axis and place it at the vertex you want to edit. With Snaps set to Face move the vertex to the visual intersection of the line and the face.  The vertex will lie exactly on the face but at the approximate point of intersection.

thanks for the response, good to have a work around, but i would also like to understand, is this an unintended bug of some sort? are other users experiencing the same problem when using constraints
