Smooth modifier doesn't work on sphere (3ds Max 2016)

Hi, when i create a sphere, i can see edges on that sphere (but however in tutorial i am watching there is no edges on the sphere when it is newly-created). So i go to the modify section and choose "smooth", then check auto-smooth. But nothing happens, am i missing somewhere about choosing smooth modifier or maybe should i change some settings to create smooth spheres from the beginning? Thank you for your time.

Accepted solution

1. When you created the Sphere, check if the Smooth option below Segments is checked. See first Attachment

2. If it's already on, then check your Viewport to see if it says "Facets". If so, click on it and change that to "Shaded" or something else you like. See 2nd attachment.

ahh, thank you really much! I gave time for this stuff and the solution was too simple all this time, it is a little sad, thanks again.

btw the solution was the second one.
