i had a rectangle and i made a bridge at one section and deleted and faces i do not need and made sure to weld all vertices but the ring selection does not work after, its something that usually annoys me, why does this happen? here are some images to show, you can see the ring selection in the red area but it does not go around all the object, the other image shows the area that i bridged1.JPG2.JPG

Can't see properly on first image because gizmo is in the way. Make sure that you don't have any N - Gons or triangles in that area. you can check by going to polygon mode in edit poly then go to the ribbon - selection and click non- quads. Also try checking for overlapping verts. go to the + in viewport and select xview - overlapping vertices.
