I get a lot of really messy geometry from sketchup. Im dealing a lot with roads and landscape around architecture projects and have to clean it in 3ds max. I used to use a great plugin that would clean mesh into a grid but keep object edges. Which is important with roads and sidewalks etc. This has been discontinued and now seems replaced by Max and its Retopology tool for the past few versions.
This works great accept I cannot get it to keep the edges with out doing an obscene amount of faces, and frankly that doesnt even do it most of the time. Does anyone have a trick or certain settings I'm missing in retopology to keep the object Border?
Ive attached an example. Direct from sketchup/or Revit. And then when I add a retopology it looses the Border even with high face count. As well as an image of more geometry that is messy and hard to deal with.
