Problems Selecting moving between WorkSpace and Edit UVWs?

I am working with files from  3DS Max Tutorial UV Unwrapping in 3DS Max Part 9 - Organic Model.

I have created all the seams necessary to unwrap the Model and have been moving back and forth selecting the Polygon Faces for each 'seamed' area and then Quick Peeling and laying them out in the active area of the UVws Editor.

I have successfully done this for 4 areas - Back of Neck/ Horn and Two Ears. However when I go to select the top of the Jaw or indeed any other areas of the Head in the Main Work area I cannot select anything. I have checked to see if I have inadvertently left a command active but cannot see anything. 

Can anybody help? 

NNB: It seems I can't attach screenshots or Max files only a URL. I have no idea how to do this.

Quick & dirty solution: save scene, close program & open again 🙂 This way all potentially active commands get shut off.

PS: to post a picture use the photo-camera-icon on top of the text-input area.
