NURMS button greyed out

This is so dumb, I'm almost embarrassed to ask.

I'm following the 3DS Max Getting Started playlist on Youtube. I'm learning polygon modelling and the tutorial says to use NURMS to round off the model. However in my 3DS Max the NURMS button is completely greyed out! I've tried rebooting 3DSMax, opening new files, starting from scratch, but it remains grey. What am I doing wrong? Is it a hardware issue?

Thanks!

Hi,

This feature exists in the Editable Poly object, not in the Edit Poly modifier,

So you need to right-click and convert the object to an Editable Poly, and you'll

Have a rollout called Subdivision Surface where you can the Use NURMS Subdivision option
