Hi everyone,
I need to model shapes like in the picture attached, consider the black "arms" with the flowers at the end.
I tried to start with helix splines > convert to editable spline > modelling using
vertices, and end Enable in render with thickness. This procedure is time-consuming and the shapes are rigid and not very malleable.
I need to mantain sinuosity with the maximum flexibility as possible.
How can I work? Wich procedure I can follow?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
Well one possible way is to:
1- create a line, and create create multiple copies of it, moving each copy up, kind of vertical array of lines,
select the bottom and attach all other copies to it. it's important that, while attaching, to start from down up, it's important the order,
because the surface that we will make will respect that order.
2- Now apply a Cross Section modifier to the shape and choose Smooth
3- Now apply a Surface modifier
4- Apply an Edit Poly modifier
5- Apply a Shell modifier, and use a small amount of shell
6- Apply another Edit Poly modifier, choose edge subobject level, click one of side edges then press Shift and click another edge to select the whole ring
use Connect tool, and use an amount of 2 segments. this step is necessary because at the end we will use Turbosmooth
7- Add TurboSmooth modifier with a value of 2 or 3
Now this sounds too much steps, but while you're still at step 3, you can go to the base shape, select any segment and play with it,
Scale, move, rotate. you can also select the last top segment, press Shift and move to create another segment.
I like to add that you can use a closed shape as a base shape(step 1)
I created quickly three demo shapes:
I only created one using the steps above, then made copies from it, and went to the base shape and started to play with the segments
to create variations.
