Loop/Ring selection options are absent/not working

I'm using 3dsMax 2021.
These are all the options I get in the Edit Mesh Modifer > Selection Rollout list. Where are the "Loop", "Ring", "Grow", "Shrink" options? 
Also the ever-changing Loop select shortcut Ctrl+2xleft-click (or Shift+2xclick or 2xclick or whatever it is supposed to be for this particular version) is not working either, so don't even suggest alternatives like that. I just want to turn on the good old Loop mode, and that's it.

Silly mistake. It's the Edit Poly Modifier that I had to use, not Edit Mesh.
