just started learning and i need help

so basically on the modify panel, when i click the element option it selects all of these highlighted in red. i want to be able to have the others that are not highlighted be selected as well but i have no idea how to do it, please help!!

Unselected parts are detached from the rest I guess.

Switch to vertices, select all, use Weld with low threshold. Try 0.001.

Select the element you have - then press CTRL+ I (invert), and then go to DETACH in the editable poly > element rollout.

This will select and detach all the other objects in the mesh and detach them into a seperate mesh - it looks like something is overlaying the other.
