If I import a DWG file it loses several faces of the mesh

Hello guys! Here is my issue, I have this 3d chair in a DWG file, when I try to import it in Maya it gives me no problems and the result is smooth and sweet, but when I import it in 3ds it seems to leave a lot of faces open... guess that is a problem of setting the import parameters in the Import window when I select the file. Can you help me solve this problem?

Thanks a lot,

Alberto

in autocad, modify your Facetres and Viewres, then import it in 3ds max

Thanks for the reply Rendermaster!

I tried to do as you suggested by setting in AutoCAD Facetres to 10 and viewres to 20, but the result was the same, always missing faces.

So I used Meshrefine and MESHSMOOTHMORE, then imported it and the result was identical to your model, though the size of the 3ds file was 27 Mb compared to your 6 Mb file.

Do you know how can I lighten it?

thanks,

Alberto

The faces are there but some of them have their normals flipped.  Just select the blank faces and hit flip or use the Flip Normal Mode.

Alternatively you could assign a double surface material and not worry about the normals but I think it would be better to fix the normals.

Here's the chair with wrong facing normals but with a double sided material (which is less efficient when rendering).
