I need some help welding a boolean to a mesh, I'm a beginner :(

I've just performed a boolean intersection of some sort and I'm struggling to figure out a solution on how to weld the verts in a way that the two objects are linked via vertices. I've already attached the geometry - this is more of a topology issue.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Did you try to use the "weld" or "target weld" option in "Edit Poly" Vertex tab?

I can use target weld/weld, however the amount of vertices on the cylinder
does not match with the amount of vertices at the end of the other shape.
Would it damage the shape if I just branched extra vertices from the
current topology?
