Hi folks. I have a model with an edge that is attached to three polygons. According to the docs, this shouldn't be possible. The reason I noticed it was because of some strange UVW unwrapping I saw after defining my seams.
I'm going to try and detach one face and resolve the issue, but is this a bug, or is this a legal object? If so, what's the best approach to resolve this? Maybe edge splitting or something? I'm looking into those options now.
Best regards,
- Sean

Are you sure it is attached to all three? Try moving a vertex at one end to see.

Thanks for the reply! Yes, I checked that. In fact, I started off by selecting one vertex, verfying the modifier panel showed only 1 was selected, and confirmed the behavior when I moved it. I have since sliced up the geometry to correct this oddity, but it definitely happened. I believe I used the 'target' vertex tool to connect some of the polygons which may have led me to this situation. It led for a strange UVW unwrap, so I was interested if anyone else had encountered this. (This is with 3ds Max 2015, latest patches, BTW).
Cheers!

This is strange. I tried to replicate this. The verts will of course weld at one end of the "edge", but won't weld the verts at both ends, which would make it a single 3 way edge, as opposed to two coincident edges.
