How To Connect Edges of Angular Tubes together (no curves)

Hi Everyone!

I am trying to connect the vertical tube to its above angled tube. (See attached for a screenshot of what it looks like right now) The connection should be a crisp edge and no curves when they connect. I tried to make them criss-cross each other then taking away the extra surfaces, but the edges of the vertical tube would stick out on the side of the angular tube - I hope that makes sense. I will greatly appreciate if anyone can help me out! Been looking for a solution to this problem for days on the internet, but no luck.

Thanks,

Rather than using "tubes" construct the centerlines of the tubes and turn on their renderable thickness.
