how to choose one direction of chamfer to work on

im a new fisher of 3ds max,  i have a problem when i in my practice, its how to choose just one direction of chamfer to work on,not both side as default sets

If you add and 'Edit Poly' to your object and go to sub-object 'Edge' and choose one, then when you use the 'Chamfer' tool, it will only Chamfer the edge/edges you selected. Is that what you are asking?
