How do you permanently change a mesh's name?

Hello everyone, I'm a total newbie here, and I've downloaded 3dsMax to work on a few projects with some firends of mine, so I'm still figuring out how to work with it.

My problem is I have a model made of multiple meshes (6 to be precise), and I'm trying to rename them, so that it's easier to couple them with the texture packs I've been working on. I tried the Rename option, I tried the Rename Tolol, and it seems to work at first (the names are changed on my UI). But when I actually export the model and Import it in Substance Painter, the names have not changed at all.

I know this is not a big issue, but would anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

PS: First pic is what I see in 3dsMax, the second in Substance Painter

Hi,

The texture sets in Substance Painter get their name from the materials exported from Max. If you want more descriptive texture set names you will need to name the materials in Max's material editor.

Ah, I get it, thank you. Could you maybe tell me how to do that? 🙂
