Garment maker: Can't select panels

Anonymous
Not applicable

I'm experimenting with garment maker for the first time, and when I get to the point at which I'm arranging my panels, it's not letting me click on them and select them. I've tried several different times now and the problem usually starts after I've rotated a piece of the garment to the back. They can sometimes be selected using ctrl-A to highlight everything (because I can't select individually) and then alt to deselect everything I don't want. That method is obviously very slow, very annoying, and doesn't always work, because some of the panels are acting like they're linked to others, like I can't select one without selecting the other.

Edit: Some additional information: I can also select the panels with a selection region (clicking and dragging over them), but not with just a single click. The click/drag isn't very accurate and the incorrect panels are still being selected/deselected using this method.

Open to any suggestions you might have. Thanks!

Go to Customize tab  -> preference-> Viewports -> Display Drivers rollout-> choose drivers->Select the recommended choice (for me it is Nitrous Direct3D 9) instead of Nitrous software, next save your project and restart your 3ds max.

Finally you will be able to select individually panels which you have already changed their initial positions but you will Not be able to see the grid in your viewports.

Hi I just started using 3ds Max 2017 and can't seem to select the panels in garment maker. In fact the entire panel section is greyed out. When I do the setting the driver as you suggested it helps ( I can choose panels, but not by clicking but by swiping the entire panel.

If I set my garment up in 2015 3ds Max and then bring it into the 2017 version, it seems to work perfectly.

It's almost like something didn't get set in the 2017 version.

Any ideas? I won't have access to my 2015 software much longer.

   Thanks,

you did not freeze the panel did you go you cannot select it? or use Frozen in Gray, is where the object turns gray in viewports when you freeze it. When off, viewports display the object with its usual color or texture even when it is frozen. or you have not Froze it in your layer manager?

I looked and none of the panels were frozen. If I save and restart 3ds I can work with the panels for a couple of commands then it dies again. Very frustrating!!

Increase the density of Garment Maker then You will surely select all its steams no matter which Display driver you are using.
