so i have some questions about the freeform tool in 3ds max 2017.
first of all i started using this tool to retopologize a high poly sculpt from Zbrush, the first time i used it freeform worked like a charm, but when i returned to redo the retopology things started to not work the same. when i would press Shift + Drag the new geometry would change size depending on how much i zoomed in on the mesh (is this a 'feature' can i turn it off?) and now i cant seem to move individual vertices with CTRL+ALT+SHIFT. i also cant seem to drag a collom over with CTRL+SHIFT. i'm not sure if I've made some silly mistakes or accidentally pressed a hotkey that messed up my freeform.
any ideas as to what i did?

never mind i was being silly, i was still using stripes to draw on the surface and not using extend
