I am using the 'Cap Holes' modifier on a large geometry (see file attached) in 3ds Max.
The program seems to hang for a long time.
First it increased the RAM usage to ~55gb. It stayed at this amount and ~15% CPU usage (Xeon W-2145) for multiple days without making any progress.
Does anyone have experience using the 'Cap Holes' modifier for large geometries?

I would not recommend using the Cap Holes modifier on that mesh. There are a lot of small holes, and you likely don't want to cap the big holes.
Select your Editable Mesh, go to Edge subobject and Select All. Find the Surface Properties rollout and click Visible so they all show. Now right click Editable Mesh in the modifier list and Convert to Editable Poly. I'd start with selecting all the vertices and Welding to eliminate the really small holes. Then go to Border, Select All, and deselect the outer edges and big hole borders you don't want capped. Then click the Cap button, or find it in the Quad menu, and the small holes will be filled.
