I'm a full time student studying Animation, and working through foundations of 3DS Max 2017. I'm having issues with the edge loop selection shortcuts and assist.
I'm have two recurring problems. I've been working on a treasure chest.
1) When selecting an Edge, then holding Shift key to highlight another Edge, sometimes the "suggested selection" for a ring select, which should highlight in yellow doesn't occur. Moving camera angles sometimes helps with this issue.
2) When it does work correctly, and I try to add to the selection, I use Ctrl key to select add a new edge, and then hold Shift to do edge ring selection, it suggests/highlights selections horizontally, instead of vertically which just happened correctly on identical pieces of topology.
Have a look at my video to see what I mean. The first issue is just seems buggy, the second issue to me is unexpected behaviour. I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with constraints/snaps etc?
