6000+ Open Edges, STL Check , Model is not Watertight !

Hello i keep having this problem every time i Export my Object to STL even after Welding All Vertices to 0.01 mm before Exporting....

i can fix the model in Blender but why no such Option to fix things in 3Ds Max?  i know some will suggest to Export it as STL and RE IMPORT to weld vertices then RE EXPORT....   why its such complicated to export a clean STL of such simple object?? What will happen if i got Complex Edgy Model ;\???

in Blender i can select None manifold then Press Manifold , it fix it so smoothly (some times it ruin the model)...but after it it has no Problems in Cura Slicer...

Any Such Technique in 3DS Max to export Perfect STL???

you can see in the STL check its 6000+ open edges... even after doing whatever

Hi,

Okay so these are the steps you will need to take to fix this.

1. all the faces on the back of the letters are facing inwards so select all of these and then flip them so the normals are facing out, you'll know because it'll go from black to the blue it should be.

2. on the bottom 2 lines of letters, in edged faces mode on the O,E,D amd A's (both upper and lowercase) there is a line on the front of the faces, don't delete this but what has happened is it has created a surface inside those letters so you need to remove the faces inside right under this line. There should be 2 per each of those letters.

3. once thats done just go into vertex mode and select all, then use 'weld', set it to some really small value like 0.01 and okay that should fix it.

Unfortunately it's on of the big issues with working with nurbs formats like stl, is that nurbs care very little about normals so faces can be flipped, which means they can't be easily closed into one single surface.
