UVW Mapping distorted after export

Hi,

I've searched long and hard for a solution, but so far no luck.

I'm using UVW Unwrap to map the surfaces of planes and for some reason once I export the object, the imported object displays a distorted texture.

It seems the mapping is rotated for every single plane. Where a circle should be displayed across multiple planes, I get a very distorted image. I've tried every setting for fbx export, as well as exporting as collada and even loaded the whole max file into Unity. Same results.

Here is the result of my mapping before export:

And after import:

importfbx.JPG

The weird thing is, I was getting the right results last week when practicing on a draft version of the model, but now it seems something has changed, because even in the draft version's file I can't get the mapping to work properly.

Any help is much appreciated!

By the way I'm fairly new to max so my terminology might not be entirely correct!

Hi. Have you tried with straight forward and simple to use "UVW map modifier"? It's much easier and thereby faster, and it may give you a better result on export. Try this:

1) Arrange your planes as you want them (I think you already did this). Remember that every plane must be "Uniqe" since they will have different UVW mapping.
2) Select all planes you want to map as one image
3) Go to the modifier tap and uncheck "use pivot" at the top in the modifier roll out
4) With all planes selected add a UVW map modifier on top of them
5) Adjust the gizmo so the map displays correct
6) Collapse all planes
7) Export

Hope it helps
