Setting distance between vertices to a specific number

Hello, newb here coming from Cinema 4D.

I've been struggling with the 3DS Max modelling workflow coming from Cinema 4D, they are two very different beasts! In Cinema 4D, I am able to select two vertices and specify a number to determine the distance between them. For instance, if I want them to be 12 inches apart in X, I just type in 12 inches in the X Size coodinates and it will make them 12 inches apart. How do I do this in max? All the solutions i have found seem to involve creating objects to snap to, is there another way to do this? Thanks in advance for understanding my newbness!

Hello @Anonymous and welcome to the community,

@don_3259 and @rendermaster are correct here, Max is a bit different and this is not a standard Max feature.  The beauty of Max is that you can make or use scripts that can accomplish these types of things.  Because there is nothing native, I do think that @rendermaster's post is a good solution, but note that you may be able to find another script that also does this.

Best Regards,
