Hi, I am using 3dmax 2011. I am having problems in using Steering control. I am using a tutorial which says Press Shift + W to display the steering Wheel Control. I am able to display the steering wheel control but its moving with my mouse. How can i fix the steering wheel icon on my view. Some body please guide me.

In the upper left corner of your viewport, you will see the text which tells you which view you are in, and which shading option you're currently using in that viewport.  If you right-click on the shading option text, you'll see a rollout dialogue of options appear.  Choose "configure", then click the SteeringWheels tab from the Configure dialogue box.  This is the best way to incorporate the steering wheel utility, in my opinion.  You'll see an entire display of options for you to configure the steering wheel in that particular viewport.

Hi,

I right clicked on  the plus and then it shows me the configure and also steering wheel option but when we press the tab of steering wheels there is no option for not moving the steering wheel with mouse button. Anyway thanks for your help.

When on, the wheel appears at the cursor position (pinned) in the viewport.  Maybe some of the information in the help file documentation for the wheel will be of some use:
