Problem to drill holes in a tube...

Hey guys ! So i'm a beginner so sorry for (maybe) this idiot question. 

 

So I modelised a grenade like this :

 

But i have a huge problem. When i want to modelised holes on my main tube, faces are not smooth and it's ugly... 

I used proboolean and i don't know how i can do it without it...

same but create a 2d circle and then pick the grenade then choose shape merge and then pick the circle this will create the circle on the grenade when that is done you can delete once you have converted down a poly and choose the poly sub object the 2d shape on your grenade

You said a 2D circle you mean a circle with spline right ?

test it first because it mite mess up your model,

 

create a 3d box. then a 2d circle, and now select the box turn edge faces on, go down compound objects and then  choose shape merge and choose pick, pick the circle now you should see the circle on the box convert your box down to a poly and select the poly faces your circle should be shaped it the small delete key and you will see the cicle in drilled into your box

okay try it with the auto grid check/ticked then draw the cirecle on the box move the circle about 2 meters backwards

You can try it by poly modeling. I'm attaching a image from which I think you can get help and create what you wanted and with proper segment flow and poly management.

The object I made for the image by roughly, you can create better one with a little more time around it.
