Primitives with Halos?

I am on 3d Max 2016 and am trying to simulate cloth on a sphere or box ... for some reason, I am getting some weird simulation:

I do work for a 3D game but unfortunately noone can help me with the settings for the Units Setup and grid spacing. I have it set to Metric and Units Setup is 1 Unit = Meter. The 3D game has real world metric measurements. When it is set to inches, it works fine, yet set to meters, we have the problem on the video

Could this be a units setup problem?

That will be the collision gap for the collision object.

The default value for offset in Collision Properties is 1, so if the scene is in inches, that's an inch.

If the scene is in meters, you have a 1 meter gap.

Adjust the collision values to suit the scale of the scene, or adjust your units.
