Object changes color when selected

I'm trying to model some things, but whenever I select an object, it now turns this gross blue color. It used to ONLY highlight the edges, turning them pure white. As for the object, it placed a blue border around it (if I remember correctly). How can I fix this?

Hi,

Go to Customize > Preferences > Vieworts tab - on bottom right you can choose how to display object previews and selections. It sounds like you have "overlay" selected and that's the discoloration you are seeing. You may want to choose "outline" instead.  See screen shot below.
