compound object - conform

Hi there

I am trying to use a very simple operation. Looked on youtube and it all looked very straightforward. but i overestimated 3dsmax 😉 whatever I do I cannot get the desired result. I am trying to wrap a surface onto another one as the image shows. Basically I want the green rectangular surface with a round bit missing to have the same curvature as the blue surface. so I choose the green rectangle as the object to wrap and the blue surface the object to wrap to. Nothing happens. What am I missing? Any ideas?

Thank you very much for you kind help.

1) If the rectangular shape is a closed surface, then it`s simply missing sufficient subdivisions to deform. You can add the manually by using editPoly methods. Or just slap a Quadrify Mesh-modifier on top if you don`t care about it`s topology.

Then just select the shape->Conform->Pick Wrap-To Object->Pick curved surface and choose 'Along Vertex Normals'

2) If it`s just a spline shape, you should use the shapeMerge compound.

Hi there

Thanks ever so much for your help. I applied the quadri modifier and now the rectangle has a lot of info. Sadly, none of your suggested methods worked 😞

The workflow should be:

1)Select the rectangular surface (the one you applied the Quadrify modifier to). This is the mesh you want to conform.

2)Select 'Conform' compound.

3)Pick the curved mesh. This is the mesh you want your object to conform to.

4)Use the option  'Along Vertex normals'
