How to quick select a specific part of an object

Again, like in Blender, if you parent an object to another, or even join it, you can press L whilst hovering the mouse over it, and it will select that specific object. Is there such a thing in 3ds Max? I've attached an ear object to a head and merged the vertices so it's become one object, but instead of having to select all the individual faces of the ear every time I want to manipulate it, is there a quick way of selecting it? It's a pity objects in the Outliner don't have a drop-down menu of all the objects that are a part of it...

Hello @t_smith5 ;

 

There's an option for this, it is called Selection Sets. You give names to your selections, and you can select these named sets with one click.

Okay, I do have a slight issue with this. Even if I save the file after adding some new selections, when I reload the file, those selections disappear from the list. Is there no way of keeping these and having them carry over? 😕
