How do you open the UV Editor?

I come from a Maya/Houdini background and I'm learning 3ds Max. It's super simple I'm sure, but I can't figure it out.

I've imported a .obj & I'd like to see it's Uv's (I uv'd it in Maya) & textured in Substance Painter.

How can I view the UVs without re-uv mapping it?

When I do an Unwrap UVW Modifier, the UV view has no Uvs.

Thanks

Did you open the UV editor within the Unwrap modifier?

Yes, but the UVs aren't there. Is there a magic button I'm missing?

Sometimes when I import something, the uv's are off the checkerboard/image and I have to zoom out with my mouse wheel to see them.

Hey everyone.

I worked with Max for more than a decade, and I've brought up the UV editor the same way, (click Unwrap UVW, then open the UV editing window.)

Now I'm working in 2018, there must be a new way to bring up the UV editor that I'm missing.

When I click Unwrap UVW, (on an object with some UVs already applied,) the UVs reset.   But this seems to be the way to open the UV editing window.

Is there a new way to open the UV editing window without resetting the existing UVs?   Let me clarify with this  image.  The object in the viewport is already partially UV mapped, but now I'd like to map the rest of the object, SO...

I also came from Maya and had the same problem.

Here is what I find a way might solve it: in UV editor, it offers saving UV mapping to a file. So save correct UV and reload it later after you've done with other modifiers.

It works for me after I need to super-smooth the surface but have not tried in other cases.

Hi there! Actually, the problem is solved now. Autodesk apparently found out about this issue, and fixed it. It wasn't a feature, it was a bug! 😉

If you check for an update, this issue should be fixed.

Thanks for the shout-out!
