Extremely frustrating problem with bridge poligon segments, not changing when they should

Hi everyone, i'm new to 3ds and today i set out trying to open a window through a wall.

I created a box resembling a wall, divided in 9 sections, then i selected the 2 central corresponding panels and i hit the bridge command. So far so good. Then i wanted to split the bridge poligons in multiple segments to simulate a double pane glass window and here's where I hit a wall.

No matter how angry I became at the bridge caddy, I have been unable to add any segments or to implement any changes from the caddy options. The values changed but i couldnt see any results in my model.

Then i tried to replicate the problem on a different bridge between two boxes and the same thing happened. I'm at a loss. I have spent way too many hours on this and I havent found any relevant post online, so I'm left thinking that I'm probably not seeing something entirely obvious.

I will be immensely grateful for any help. Below a screenshot of the issue.

Sounds obvious, but are all 4 edges of the bridge selected?

Edit: Sorry, i see you meant the segment-parameter of the bridge command and not the connect-command. Can you upload the file, so i can take a look?

Change segments number before you hit apply button.

I finally realized that if instead of clicking directly on the "bridge" button i click on the tiny icon on the right end of the button itself then the caddy controls work.

It's seems crazy and very counterintuitive but in the end that's what worked for me. If i clicked just on "bridge" and then expected to be able to tweak the parameters there was no way that was going to work.

I repeat this for any other unlucky soul that comes through this very narrow passage: i don't know if its a bug or if its like this by design but in order to be able to actually tweak the bridge parameters, dont click on the word "bridge" but instead click on the tiny section on the right end of the burron.

Why are you using caddy control at all? There is an interactive bridge mode that is enabled by clicking the button alone, and there are the bridge OPTIONS which are enabled by shift+clicking the bridge button or clicking the options-button.

What exactly is counter-intuitive with that? Most modeling commands work like that. They have an interactive mode and dialogs with options.

And turn off the caddy controls.

No seriously, turn them off.
