Error of Surface Modifier applied to 2D closed spline

Hi,

I created a 2D spline shape from 4 segments, verified that they are coplanar, attached all of them to eachother, fused corner points to be sure they intersect and verified this by selecting corners ->Right-click -> Corner option.

When i apply the Surface modifier to this shape, it dissapears.

It seems to be something there when i select the empty space it used to be.

I attached a video of the problem :

Hi, the surface modifier would need additional cross section splines for it to work. If you are trying to just fill in the shape with polys then you can add an "Edit Poly" modifier on top.

The Surface modifier will only work if you make a cage of splines.  In your example, draw the two side splines without the top and bottom 'caps', then use the CrossSection command to connect them across.  (Make sure both splines have the first vertex on the same end, and use the same number of vertices.)  You'll have segments that connect the vertices of the two splines, and these will become edges of polygons when you apply the Surface modifier.

You may need to add more vertices to get a smoother edge to your object.
