Does anyone know if there' s a way to snap to point like on Maya?

I'm a Maya user and I recently bought a course from Flipped normals and I've been learning 3D Max for a couple of weeks now.

In one of the chapters, the instructor goes in-depth into snap tools, but I haven't seen anything like Maya's "Snap to point" tool.

I'm not referring the vertex option, since what I want is not to snap one vertex to another, but to align it with the vertex of another model, for example.

Is this possible?

Thanks in advance!

No max tool that I know of does what you show in the video.  The closest you can get is to create a "guide plane" with the desired spacing of edges/verts and place that below the object you want to move in increments.  The guide plane should be at the same z value as your object's pivot point because max will use the pivot point of the object to snap to the vert or edge in the scene that is nearest.

You can also check "Grid points" in the Snap settings dialogue, but that presumes that your  object is sitting on the grid and that the grid spacing is what you want for incremental movement.

Maybe someone else here knows another way to do what is in the video, but I don't.

Hi! Sorry for the late reply.

I recently discovered a very simple way to do that in Max. If you go to the "Options" tab under "Grid and snap settings" you will see a checkbox called "Enable Axis Constraints". If you enable it you will be able to do the same as I show in the video from Maya. I hope it helps you too! 🙂
