Any way to use smooth groups in OpenSubdiv for weight as turbosmooth does?

I'm talking about dynamic systems where changing the smoothing groups below automatically will update the model, as turbosmooth does.

I know it is possible to do with data channel based in angle of faces for OpenSubdiv, but this doesn't allow the flexibility of the smoothing groups of manual edit. Unless there is a way for the data channel to use the smoothing groups I don't know, but I don't see smoothing groups as input.

Made a modifier for that exact purpose before. However, a general solution would be better (and much more portable) so you might also want to vote for better edge support in datachannel modifier.
