Excellent.

One thing though....never make a shape with more than 4 edges. This is important for clean modelling.

All the polys with more than 4....just select the verts and make a new edge.

3 is OK, sometimes it's needed, but if you can use all quads!, you will be a great modeller.

oh..and none welded T-junctions are a Sin, so when you fix this, you might need to re-model the roof so they all weld together.

🙂

Thankyou darrenporter for your reply, there is one more thing i would like to know, when i apply mesh smooth, the geometry distorts very badly(pictures below). What may be the reason ? Should i convert the object from low poly to high poly before applying mesh smooth or turbo smooth. If so please guide me.

Waiting for your reply,

Thankyou.

The number of Poly`s you are using is about correct. You are correct too that mesh smooth (or turbo smooth) is the next step.

But first you need to make sure the whole car is built in Quads, this is the reason the mesh smooth is messing up.

Building a car, and then using mesh smooth is very hard!, and you are doing it correctly.

9 times out of 10, if the mesh smooth is messy, it is because your low poly geo is too messy.

Yout Lambo has so many square edges, it might actually be better to build the whole car by hand, not use a mesh smooth. If you want to keep the straight edges, you might need to add more poly`s along all the egdes.

A good tip is to copy (reference) the car, add a mesh smooth to one, and edit the low poly one in the areas you dont like. Basically you are modelling your low poly version and the version with the mesh smooth changes in real time.

I can say you are correct...but cars are tricky as the mesh needs to be PERFECT for the mesh smooth to work. Make Quads, add more polys to keep square edges etc., maybe adjust the smoothness in the mesh smooth, try turbo smooth also..

I gave you an example of a car I`m working on. Don`t judge the art, it`s very much work in progress.

Look at how simple the mesh is, no mesh smooth, but look at the quality of the render. More poly`s is not always smoother or better. Once I get the quality right at low poly, then I`ll feel safe- confident about adding a mesh smooth.

On your car I`d actually be tempted to remove the wheel arches etc, build separate. The only way to get sharp lines (as mesh smooth averages out the polys) would be to add more polys, which is hard to do around those arches.

The Lambo is all straight lines, so you don`t need mesh smooth. On mine to get the angles I made sure the polys along the edges were close together..

Hope this all helps.

Thanks for your reply darrenporter.

How about the blueprints ? Is the image resolution good, those are the only good res images i could find on internet.

There is another one though but it is not perfect diamensionwise i think.

And is the setup good. I have attached the blueprint setup file. If there is any other high res blueprint image please let me know.

Thankyou.
