Maya - EVALUATION MODE

When i choose parallel mode it is okay with basic scenes. But when there is more than one rig in a scene maya crashes without an error code. If i switch the evaluation mode to DG it doesn't crash but scene is lagging and fps drops happen even when i travel around the scene. So, parallel or DG mode is not working. Anyone got an idea?

Hi,
Starting from Maya 2016, Maya can take advantage of Scene Based Parallelism instead of the old Node Based (DG) Parallelism. As you most likely already know, parallelism refers to the distribution of requests (or jobs, rendering or anything) among multiple threads. It's fairly normal that the Dependency Graph (DG) mode evaluates slowly as it uses the old thread distribution (most operations using single cores) but at the same time, ensuring the correct operation (avoiding crashes), as one node is not evaluated before a dependent node has already been evaluated. In order to operate properly, any plugins must be carefully implemented for threaded evaluation to ensure Thread Safety.

In the attachment below, I encourage you to read the "Parallel Evaluation Whitepaper for Maya 2024" entirely to have a better understanding of the concepts, especially take a look at the Thread Safety part for error prone scenerios with parallelism.

Hope you can find the culprit
