voronoi modifier

voronoi modifier

In vfx we need to cut a lot of objects. the updates on proobolean are always welcome, but we miss a basic feature most other software has. a Voronoi fragmenter.

Sure there is plenty of scripts doing so in 3dsmax, but I will like a solution from 3dsmax, that runs as a modifier, and we can procedurally modfiy it with other modifiers. And obviously fast and accurate.

Imagine you can add a deformation to your object with displacement, then the "voronoi frag" modifier, then again the same displacement you apply first but inverted, so you have a nice non regular voronoi fragture. Also voronoi keeps selection on frags, and you can add a delaunay triangulation (we dont have that neither on 3d surface and will be awesome to have), and then apply a normal displacement to add detail to the cuts.

I agree that it should be to default on Max....

But If you need it's for you!

Is there a way to use voronoi just to create faces for an object? the fracture voronoi is also creating different object while I need to keep the same object, just create faces using voronoi.

Yes sure, for example VolumeBreaker in TP has the option to do so. It just needs to be implemented.

Wanted to bump this as I recently had a need for a modifier like this for a work project.

Fortunately we have copies of Cinema 4D R18 (the release voronoi was added I believe) laying around which has a nice built-in Voronoi Fracture creator in mograph. Just copy that in Max! Any excuse I can have to not have to use C4D (not that it's bad software, but would rather rely on one solution to keep my workflow more streamlined) the better!

Here's an example of how C4D's voronoi fracture works: C4D voronoi fracture example

Also, love your videos on youtube @pyroskat! Keep up the great Max tips & tricks!

Hello 🙂

Any chance to ever get VoroFrag plugin recompiled and integrated to 3dsmax, please ? Sure there is a Fracture Voronoi script, but getting tools as modifiers is most of time more efficient IMHO 😉

Best regards.

bump for this!
