UVW Unwrap Editor - Stiching bigger elements to singly polys!! Annoying Movement

UVW Unwrap Editor - Stiching bigger elements to singly polys!! Annoying Movement

In the UVW Unwrap editor, stitching a set of polygon UV's to a single poly seems to have movement randomised.

If you have a set of UV's places, and want to stitch a single polygon to it, most of the time, the whole set of UV's will move, rotate and stitch itself to the single poly!

It should always be the other way round - either weigh the amount of polys and decide which one to move (ie move the single poly to the main set), or move polys into the object that is in the centre of the UVW Unwrap window. It's a pain to have to relocate/rotate the object you're working on for the sake of a single polygon

You are probably using the average stitch option, there's also 'stitch to target' and 'stitch to source'.

Check the help file (scroll down to 'Stitch rollout'):

If you need proper scaling of the uv's that will be stitched, set the bias to 0 in the stitching options, prior to stitching.

@Pac_187 PAC_187, appreciated, but they are different tools to what I'm using - stitch target/source moves the mesh in UVW editor to the selected part - I think an option to evaluate the volume of the two meshes, and then stitch/relocate the smallest mesh to the largest part, without modifying the transform of the larger part.
