Spline Weld Modifier

Spline Weld Modifier

Just like there is a modifier that dynamically welds vertices on geometry objects there should be a modifier that welds spline knots the same way. This will allow for more procedural non-destructive workflows when creating complex spline shapes, for example when using the Array modifier on a spline and want to keep each clone connected.

It would be useful to have a Vertex Weld Modifier which can be applied to splines.

Reasons:

  • to parametrically weld imported splines.
  • apply to spline sections so they can be extruded with caps etc

thanks

it's need for all major commends in Spline like Chamfer, Fillet ets

I've included this idea on my compilation of Spline procedural handling ideas. Pls support this and other great suggestions:

[Splines] Improved procedural handling through both updated and new modifiers

I agree 100%. The parametric controls for splines are severely lacking. Parametric Fillet, Chamfer, and Weld modifiers would be so valuable.

I really need this right now. Edit Spline is causing problems in my attempted procedural workflow. All I want to do is emulate the behavior of the Symmetry modifier's weld function, except for splines. Can't do it. Edit Spline is broken in this situation, even though I'm not altering topology. If there's an Edit Spline in the stack, then it doesn't respect transforms of all sub-objects below it.

Would be very useful!

yes, this will help a lot with proceduralism without the need to convert to edit spline to weld the vertices

The tyWeld modifier of tyFlow does this. It's also in the free version.

tyFlow should be part of 3dsmax...

with the future development of the array working better with splines this feature separate and/ or included in the array is a must
