Smart Extrusion - negative direction make holes!

Hi guys! ....

I have installed the new 2021.2 and I really think that Smart Extrusion is really a piece of art but.....

Usually I like to have new features like Smart Extrusion but I think that this news is just 70% of the potential... I tried several times but is not possible to use it like sketchUp or Fusion 360.... to make holes in negative extrusion produce flipped polygons and bad geometry!....

Please, update soon of possible to make this feature really great!

Yes, Agreed. I was thinking this. I thought it would work but it creates backfacing geo. There's almost no reason you would want this type of geo.

I hope this explains it. The geo on the left is what currently happens. It would be cool if it created the geo on the right instead or at least have an option to make bridged geo like this using Smart Extrude.

ah I see. Kind of frustrating right ! Is the blender version of this extrude acting in this manner?

Yes, same in Blender.... it's funny to see the same tools in 3ds max and blender at same time!...

So... sketchup  actually is the best!

Blender does limited smart extrude only. It also doesn't punch holes.
