To connect 2 points with line you have to use connect button in edit spline menu
by selecting first point and drawing dashed line to the last point , sometimes it's very uncomfortable because line might be long and tiny and hard to see clearly what is going on there
why don't you select those 2 points (just select) and hit connect and it will draw that line , insert line between points .
