The exchange method "Send to Maya" / "Send to 3dsMax" is only supported from versions of the same year.
But currently Maya is lagging behind Max about one full year!
It means you can't exchange files between Maya and 3dsMay2021. And this will go on for sure with Max2022 this year.
So the developers should please have a look which will be the current latest version (when releasing a new version or update 3dsMax) and enable the exchange to the current latest Maya version. Thanks
