Quick Align needs an option to align the object to the snap target when the target is clicked with snap enabled. We require the capability to swiftly align object A to the vertices of B (and other snap elements). Also, even if it is not a snap, you can simply place it where the mouse hits. This allows for very fast movement

1. The current select and place function operates only like image 1. However, I would prefer an option that functions like image 2. You might want to position it at an angle to the surface to which the smoothing group is applied, or you may want to position it ignoring the smoothing group.

2. This function becomes a bit cumbersome when dealing with heavy objects. Moreover, if the object is large, it may obstruct the screen. While utilizing this feature, an additional option to enable 'display as a box'(or just arrow gizmo) could be beneficial.

3. you can enable this feature and drag it multiple times, but it is not good. Once you start dragging, you cannot move the screen. Once you enable the feature, it should start following your mouse right away. After click somewhere, it stops and placement is complete. If this is done, it can replace the quick align idea above.

Starting with the basics that window should not be modal as requested here Non-modal Align dialog - Autodesk Community

Then a n option for 3 Point alignment - Autodesk Community

Further in time, Select and place should take note of the updated Cinema 4d similar tools. Maya old ones are still more interactive and have those viewport overlays or gizmos to align stuff together.
