Native import support for PLY mesh files would be really helpful, as a way to get objects with vertex colors into and out of 3DS Max.
(I have been using this plugin as a workaround for importing, and this script for exporting, but both can be flaky and really slow for large files, and I am concerned about whether they might stop being updated.)
