Pie menu for quick creation/editing

Pie menu for quick creation/editing

I think it would be great to have a pie menu where it will have the basic creation/editing command depending what is selected.

E.g. When nothing is selected create prim/splines, when object is selected display most used modifiers and when sub-object is selected display modeling tools. Of course this should be customizable depending on each user needs.

Hello! I just wanted to mention that I will soon be releasing a plugin for 3ds Max that will be having described functionality. It is a pie menu editor that lets you create your own pie menu and bind it to a hotkey, it supports up to 12 3ds Max actions in one pie menu. Except it does not support described checks yet, whether object is selected or not, etc. But I will add such functionality after or, maybe, before release. I will post a link in this post as soon as the release happen.

I glad that someone liked the idea! I guess it will be ready in a week or two. I have a Trello board for this project, where people can vote the features they like, for me to understand which to implement.

It will not be free though. If someone is interested - please follow me on Gumroad.

Looking forward to it! You definitely should post about your project on Polycount forum, I think that many 3ds Max users support you.

for example :

1.   key "V" down -> snap on , "V" up -> snap off .

2.   Rbutton down -> show menuA(Delay x milliseconds) -> Move up the mouse -> Release rbutton -> run functionA .

3.   The menu is not displayed and still executes

4.   can add , mbutton down -> lock and operate objcet , mbutton up -> unlock objecj and End operation .

can set "menuA" specifies to the shortcut key "Rbutton" , "menuB" specifies to "shift + rbutton" ?

I need such a function , ALL like maya hotbox menu .

Well, i have one of this menu as you want. You can find the basic code online and It's free. PM if you want it.

/!\ It requires some MXS skills to edit this menu!

For instance my "pieMenu" is like this:

At the moment it has 7 menu buttons, each one with with sub-menu buttons. Basically you dive from  menu  -> sub-menu -> sub-menu to -> sub-menu ... and so on.

You can add how many buttons you need (in the main menu and sub-menu as well). Also i've assigned Lctrl + RMB as hotkey using ahk script.

To understand better it is like the Maya's default context sensitive right click menus 🙂

Hello.

It seems that a lot of users want this pieMenu. Maybe it is time to 3ds MAX have this menu type by default instead of the quads menu.

1. First download the pieMenu and the pieMenu_Macro from here.

2. Just rename the extension from .txt to .ms and run it in the 3ds max.

3. In the Customize User Interface, search for the pieMenu category and assign a hotkey for the Menu1

With this assigned hotkey you will show the pie menu over the viewport.

Remember, this is just the basic functionality of the pie menu and the buttons will only print in the listener the messages written in the macros. As i said in the last post, to customize this tool you need some msx skills.

a.  in order to have more or less buttons you have to edit the pieMenu.ms  (just edit the 'labels' array and the condition from the 'error' function.)

b. you have to edit the pieMenu_Macro.ms to customize the script for your needs.

For more information, you can read this thread of the original creators.

That's it!

Happy maxscripting 🙂

-Mihai.

I found the pie menu plugin for 3ds max, and this is the coolest and most flexible tool I've ever seen for 3dsmax,
it's sad that there is no support for 3dsmax 2023, and the developer does not get in touch

source: http://tk.v5cg.com/tools/1954.html
at the request of the developer published it on: https://jhonhu.gumroad.com/l/QRYIw

it would be amazing if such a tool appeared in max by default
